HE-NEXUS Group

“Connecting People and Planet for a Resilient Future”

Services

Our services are tailored for community based organizations (CBOs/CSOs), research institutions, governments, and community groups working on climate, water resources management and governance, and sustainability.

Climate Risks Analytics & Advisory Services:

Supporting organizations and institutions to understand and act on climate-related hazards and vulnerabilities.

HE-NEXUS offers cutting-edge climate risk analytics that help governments, NGOs, and institutions anticipate, understand, and respond to climate-related hazards. We integrate geospatial data, climate projections, and local knowledge to provide comprehensive vulnerability assessments and risk advisory services. Whether you’re developing an adaptation strategy, a resilience plan, or an early warning system, our team translates complex climate data into actionable insights tailored to your context. Our goal is to ensure that climate risk becomes a manageable factor, not an existential threat.

Participatory Research Lab:

Bridging Science and Society through Participatory Research

The Participatory Research Lab is the innovation hub of HE-NEXUS, where science and society converge through collaborative systems thinking. Using tools such as agent-based modeling (ABM), participatory system dynamics modeling (PSDM), and serious games, the lab co-designs community-driven solutions to complex environmental and social challenges. It draws on proven participatory frameworks, including PASSA, CVCA/EVCA, PHAST, CRiSTAL, LEAP, PGIS, CBA, and the GCA/CARE Youth Toolkit, to simulate dynamic systems, enhance stakeholder understanding, and support inclusive decision-making. The lab has supported initiatives in flood risk planning, conflicts resolution, water governance reform, and climate adaptation, driving the HE-NEXUS mission to bridge science and society through co-created, sustainable solutions.

Socio-Hydrological Research Services:

Technical support for Human and Water Interactions

HE-NEXUS is dedicated to advancing equitable and sustainable water futures in vulnerable and underserved regions. Our work integrates the social, environmental, and technical dimensions of water, including sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) systems. We conduct interdisciplinary research and applied studies such as hydro-social dynamics, water governance, community-based water management, and behavioral drivers of WASH outcomes.

By combining hydrogeological analysis with participatory approaches, we support the co-design of context-sensitive interventions that enhance water security, health equity, and resilience. Our team collaborates with local communities, community-based organizations, policymakers, and engineers to inform inclusive and adaptive strategies that are environmentally sustainable and socially just.

CSO/CBO Grant Proposal Support:

Our support include feasibility planning, budgeting, stakeholder engagement, proposal writing, and identifying suitable partners for collaboration.

We empower Grassroots community groups, community-based organizations (CBOs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) to successfully access, implement, and report on donor-funded projects. HE-NEXUS provides hands-on support with grant scouting, partner consortiums, proposal development, project design, and donor reporting. We also help partners build internal systems for monitoring, accountability, and storytelling. Through capacity strengthening and technical guidance, we ensure grassroots groups are not only eligible for funding but are also equipped to drive meaningful, sustainable impact at the community level.

Applied Research & Collaboration:

Collaborative research projects with research institutions, governments, and local communities.

HE-NEXUS collaborates with research institutions, think tanks, and local governments to generate applied research that bridges theory and practice. Our work spans environmental governance, water resource management, participatory modeling, and climate resilience. We actively co-develop research agendas, facilitate North–South partnerships, and translate scientific findings into accessible knowledge products. Our research is grounded in real-world problems and designed to inform both local interventions and broader policy processes.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning:

Robust M&E tools and evaluations to track and amplify societal impact.

Robust Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) is key to the impact of any development intervention. HE-NEXUS offers tailored MEL frameworks, indicators, tools, and learning systems to help partners track their results, extract insights, and adapt programs accordingly. Our approach blends qualitative and quantitative methods with participatory tools that engage stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. From baseline studies to final evaluations, we ensure your initiatives are accountable, effective, and continuously improving.

Citizen Science Approach:

Empowering local communities: Harnessing Citizen Science to democratize data, boost local capacity, and foster collaborative ownership

Through participatory monitoring, training, and collaborative analysis, HE-NEXUS empowers local communities to become active contributors to the research and implementation process. Our citizen science approach strengthens the interface between scientific inquiry and lived experience. Local stakeholders help gather critical data on complex human-environmental interactions, ensuring that interventions are grounded in local realities and adaptive to evolving conditions. By embedding citizen science within our projects, we promote transparency, build trust, and support long-term human-environmental systems.
