FFWC’s 7-day outlook (23 to 30 April) issued on 23 April indicated the probability of flash floods in low-lying areas of Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, and Netrokona due to heavy to very heavy rainfall. An emergency coordination meeting was convened with the DDM, BMD, FFWC, and AATWG members to review the situation, leading to pre-activation of the Flash Flood National Early Action Protocol. Following DMC meetings, early warnings and advisories were disseminated, emphasizing the harvesting of crops with over 80%maturity. Based on FFWC’s three-day deterministicforecast,activationwastriggeredon28–29April for Kulaura, Juri, Kamalganj, Chunarughat, Habiganj Sadar upazilaandDurgapurupazila.Asthe7-dayoutlook(30April to7May) issuedon30April indicated improving conditions, no further activation is expected in the northeastern region. The National Early Action Protocol (NEAP) on Flash Flood is currently under development. Agencies have the flexibility to follow their own internal trigger matrix (ifany),whilethosethatdonothavetheirowninternalprotocolcanfollowthetrigger matrix of the draft flash flood NEAP.
